Film presentation

Luc Giard's analysis is an approach which allows a better understanding of the behaviour of today's Brazilian and the various peoples who make up the population of this country: Indians, Portuguese, Blacks, Italians, Germans and Asians, who have participated in the construction of Brazil by each contributing a note of colour, of character, and of thought.
Luc Giard looks upon Brazil as a painting, but a painting which is not static, for Brazil is anything but static. It is a veritable kaleidoscope, ever-changing, punctuated with hues.
In this huge country, 17 times as big as France, anything is possible: adventure, riches, chaos, eccentricity, each has its place in this enormous world where adventure is sensed everywhere…
At each instant, one loves and hates Brazil… but passion is present, with all its contradictions.
From the gigantic spectacle of the Rio carnival to the grandiose productions of Brazilia, from the exuberant nature of Pantanal to the wild capitalism of the mega poles, from the crazy hope of the gold-hunters to the sublime beauty of the precious stones, or from the golden age of the colonies to the multicoloured crossbreeding… Brazil never ceases to be extravagant, fanciful, sensual and vibrant.
Luc Giard tells you about his experiences and the aspects he appreciated during a trip which lasted eight months.

This film was presented from 1991 to 1997 in the tribunes of "Connaissance du Monde"
